The auction will be awarded to a UK-based company and is expected to fetch $10 million. Argentine media estimates the auction amount could be up to 10 million USD. The noble purpose behind Messi’s actions was also revealed. He will use part of the proceeds to donate to UNICAS, a project managed by a hospital in Barcelona, to treat children with rare diseases.
“6 World Cup shirts, in a single auction,” Messi shared. “Today, a friend of mine announced the auction of 6 shirts that I wore at the World Cup in Qatar, including the shirt from the final match.”
The auction process will take place online, from November 30 to December 14. Last year, the shirt Diego Maradona wore at the historic 1986 World Cup was sold for $9.3 million.
Currently, Messi is in Brazil to prepare for the competition with the home team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This long-awaited confrontation takes place at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow (November 22).
